Baylor University’s Institute for Family Business presents its 15th Annual Texas Family Business of the Year Award for Large Family Business to Jim Coleman Company. Businesses whose families demonstrate a commitment to each other and to business continuity, and who are responsive to the needs of their employees, communities and the industries were honored in Waco, Texas on October 28, 2004. More than 100 businesses across the state were nominated for the contest.

Family owned businesses have a strong entrepreneurial sprit and are a vital part of the backbone of the American economy. Family businesses create jobs, offer vital goods and services and build a foundation of prosperity. For this reason, Governor Rick Perry declared October 28, 2004 Family Business Day in the State of Texas.

To be recognized by Baylor University as an outstanding family business among the many family businesses in the state of Texas is a tremendous honor for Jim Coleman Company and for the family members actively involved in the company.

Accepting the award for Jim Coleman Company were family members, Jim and Lorraine Coleman, Russell Coleman, Wayne Coleman, Randy Coleman, Annette Martin, Jamie Ware, Gail Jackowski and Mary Cheatham. Pat Coleman, another son, involved with the company, was unable to attend.

Other awards of the evening were Community Commitment Award, Family Values Award, Fastest Growing Award, Well-Managed Award, Founders Award, Small Family and Medium Family Award.

Jim Coleman Company is proud and honored to accept the award and will continue to strive to be an outstanding family business for many years to come.
